4th of July

Each year we have a 4th of July Festival in our town.  This year we entered John Parker in the bicycle parade…or so we believed a parade.  When we got there we found out it was really a race so Greg had to push him and try to beat the other contestants.  They came in 3rd BUT he won the most patriotic!  Below are some pics after we decorated the bike.  John Parker put all the stars on his bike!   His pic also made the paper due to his charming good looks and probably a little of his patriotism!

Swimming at the pool after the festival.  John Parker is a FISH!  He has no fear and does not want help in the water except to catch him when he jumps off the side!  When just the two of us go…he wears his pregnant momma OUT!  Thankfully some genius invited the puddle jumper so he feels confident and free to swim about.  I also contribute his fabulous swimming skills to my genes.  I was on the Dexter Dolphins swim team for one summer.  Although my ribbons weren’t numerous….I had heart and knew how to rock a swim cap.  Hee hee.  It is fun to go swim at this pool since this is where I grew up going with all my buddies.  We usually try to go once a day through the week.  He loved that Greg was able to go today!

John Parker’s first trip to the lake.  We decided to hit the lake for the 4th.  This is the lake that I grew up on and Greg and I have spent numerous summers on while dating.  Dad sold the boat after all the kids got married.  SO now we are trying to get back into the lake scene again.  I am really excited!  Greg and I love being out on the lake and it’s obvious that John Parker LOVES it too.  He drove the boat, wanted in the water as soon as we stopped, and he even took a nap on the boat….which is a rare thing for him (sleeping somewhere besides his crib).  It was a great day!
