Hola Missouri

Okay so lots of updates so feel free to skip this. I am just updating and documenting!
Guess who's home from Mexico???? No, this isn't a picture of me and a Mexican. I can say that because my hilarious and beautiful friend Leza who is originally from Mexico agrees with me. He came home sporting facial hair. He made attempts to grow one of these on the "Deardorff Family Vacation 2008" (I will post those pictures hopefully before vacation 2009) and it went unsuccessful due to his inability to grow facial hair consistently around his chin. THANK GOD! I like my original Greg. Most people around here seem to disagree. The goatee seems to be a hit!

I will post more about his successful trip when he is around so he can explain some of the pics but I can tell you that he came back a new man. Just to see his eyes opened and have a new view of the world makes me even more proud to be his wife! The team that went down there were so well selected (by no other than God) and were able to accomplish so much with not only their mission but their own experiences. I am so proud of you Greg!!!

Ok-what did I do while Greg was gone??? I stayed busy with school, bunco, dinner with girlfriends, church, and hanging out with Jill and Caroline. But I didn't sleep probably 8 hours all week! Between the news coverage of attacks happening in the city where they were working and news reports on home invasions I lived most of my nights 10pm-5am with little or no sleep! Keep in mind we have a better chance of getting hit by Santa's sled in this town than someone breaking into our home. But to detour any predators I left various lights on at night (can't tell how many because my budgeteer will flip out), left the basement door double "locked" with a chair, slept with my cell phone under my pillow, the tv on CNN for breaking news, the dog running loose in the yard (which is a big NO since the attack...see an earlier post) to bark if ANYTHING enters our yard, and my Bible under the other pillow. I guess I had the fear of a 20/20 or Dateline special happening to us....husband away on a mission trip to serve God...pregnant wife home alone....just too much risk involved to not take precautions. Pregnancy changes everything:) I did once live alone and I have stayed here numerous times by myself but it was different last week.

I feel the need to share this because I always thought I was the only girl playing out worse case scenarios in my head but talking to different girlfriends the past week I heard some bizarre behavior out of girls staying home alone and living in fear. So I deem it as somewhat normal. This experience did make me want to own a pistol but Greg said that makes him live in fear! I'll keep working on him. If I do get one it will be small, pink with pearls, monogrammed, and a silencer attached. Let me just say I did a lot of praying and learned a lot about trusting God!

The picture from above was taken at our church Valentines Day banquet about 2 hours after Greg arrived home. No we weren't King and Queen but I was chosen to play a game where I was a butt of a joke in front of the entire banquet. They asked questions about my hobby while they told the crowd (without me knowing) that I was answering questions about my first kiss. I almost passed out when they asked me how often I do this and I said "not since I was pregnant" and when my entire family ducked down laughing (yes I we spent the night with the fam but Jill and Caroline were in town since Mark had to go to Kansas City for business and it's just too fun to pass up!) I just knew they were talking about sex. Luckily our associate pastor cleared things up and I was redeemed! It was so much fun and it was one of the greatest Valentines dates ever! If my left hand wasn't cut out of the picture you would be able to see the BEAUTIFUL bracelet Greg bought me for V-day. Very nice and beautiful silver and stylish! He did a great job picking it out and I can wear it with so much. It means so much to me and I love it!!!

Okay- last thing I promise but I have to update on baby. I have grown this week! I could wear maternity pants...didn't say I was wearing them just said I could. Yes I am admitting this and UGH I am not enjoying it. I wear lots of dresses with knee boots since I am rebelling against mom pants. Yes I am aware there are supposed cute maternity clothes out there but it's so hard to enjoy slidding pants on that come with an attached elastic wasteband. There's a whole SNL skit on those pants and it takes everything in me to look at them! The shirts aren't any better. The extra material that comes attached to those things makes me look 50 weeks pregnant and when you work with 9-10 year olds they will let you know when your are abnormally pooching out. Ugh the drama of the pregnant girl. I am 24 weeks this week and yes I said that I was 24 weeks in last weeks post. I am going to be "that mom" that can't remember her own kids birthday. Off to a good start! We have chosen (and withholding) the name but that's the only thing he's got going for him outside the womb. His nursery is still in the original state it was in last June. I haven't found "the one" when it comes to baby bedding so therefore I can't pick paint. DRAMA. I am pretty sure Pottery Barn Kids has a harassment case against me since I keep calling to see when their spring bedding is coming out. According to Torence the spring catalog will be out in a week in a half. On a lighter note, last night Lil' T was kicking so hard and running body parts along my stomach you could see my stomach push up. We are pretty sure he was do the Rosa Parks dance in honor of Black History Month. Seeing/feeling him move like that makes those mom pants worth it.

FINAL THING- You make ask yourself why isn't Greg here to explain his trip...well he's at none other than a trivia night with other engineers. It's some fundraiser for a school and they play trivia games or aka GEEKFEST 09. Sadly I wasn't able to attend since I have been home this afternoon with a cold. I need my rest because I'm still tired from last week!
