Well my birthday has always kind of been a big deal. Being a summer birthday AND the baby of the family I always had the coolest parties in town....or so I believed. I always had a friend pool party, family party, and then lunch out a grandma's with the farmers (this is their daily meal....home cooked food made from scratch at grandma's house) so I grew up believing that there was no other birthday better than mine. It was probably so celebrated because there was nothing better to do in the middle of the summer or it is close to the 4th which is a good excuse to see family and friends over the holidays. I chose to believe neither. Well this belief is somewhat carried on into my adult life. BUT NOT BY CHOICE. I am done with birthdays. Next year I will be 30. Yikes. I don't even like typing that. I am DONE. I told Greg that I would like to start practicing the new tradition of not celebrating this year. Maybe cut out cake...not the gifts. But that didn't work which now I am okay with! Thanks everyone who made it special & sent cards. It was a fabulous day even if I just turned one year closer to 30.
The fabulous Italian Creme Cake....MY FAVORITE!

Red wine, the cake, and candles that say "21" all which totally got Greg husband points.
Notice the iPod Shuffle. Total suprise from Greg. Is the first gift I have EVER received from him that I did not find early, although I did guess it before it gave it to me. I have an iPod but he thought this would be prefect for me when I run. Ahh what a man!

The next day I went to lunch with my cousin Lauren, Aunt Becky, and Mom. Lauren made Aunt Becky stop and buy me the balloon along with cupcakes which she asked for the entire meal!

When I got home I found this....Nolan obviously found a birthday card that Aunt Becky left for me. She put it under my windshield wiper and apparently he was anxious to know what it said.

Around back I found this.....apparently he dug a hole IN MY FLOWER BED to hide the evidence.

Later that day we moved this to our pastor's yard. This is our fundraiser for our church for Relay. For a donation we will place a lovely toilet in the yard of your choice. If a toilet lands in your yard then you must donate to get it removed. If you need a fundraiser I highly recommend this. We have raised LOTS of money doing this. Below is the pastor's daughter and a gal from the youth group.

Then later that afternoon I got to do one of my favorite childhood things....ride in the combine with dad. Greg and I got to "assist" dad with his wheat cutting. Wheat is my favorite crop because it is always being cut on my birthday. Actually dad almost missed my birth because he was cutting wheat and I guess was having a good day (obviously...his baby was born) and kept cutting. Luckily he showed up right before I was born. Or so I'm told. Yes I am wearing a dress. I might be riding on a piece of farm machinery but I am still required to look like a lady.

Wow how times have changed. The high tech redneck was showing us all the technology on this machine. I cannot believe how "technological advanced" farmers must be. There is actually a button that tells you when you are full and need to dump the wheat into the truck. THAT USE TO BE MY JOB! Also there are TWO seats inside with CUP HOLDERS. When I was little I had to sit in the floor to eat my nutty bar and drink my RC Cola.

Then a few days later mom and I went to STL to see Caroline (and Jill) which was a FABULOUS birthday treat. Because it was my birthday I got to pick the restaurants.
Chocolate Cafe

We then went to the winery's in Augusta and shopped along the way. In one store this lady had a little dog that Caroline thought was so funny. She laughed out loud the ENTIRE time we were in the store. I believe the dog started to become annoyed and would run when she would start laughing. It was so cute. I know what Caroline needs for her birthday:)

PF Changs for dinner. Obviously Caroline was TIRED. Ps- that is not mom's beer or she would look like Caroline!

Thanks again. It was a wonderful birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I need to use my i-pod shuffle and run off all the food I ate:)
